The government of Ireland announces a contribution of €175,000 to the Trust Fund for Victims to provide support to victims of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes.

On 5 December 2018, the government of Ireland and an important long-time supporter of the Trust Fund for Victims (TFV), announced a voluntary contribution of €175,000. This contribution is earmarked to replenish TFV’s reparations reserve (€87,500) and TFV’s assistance programme (€87,500).

This contribution will enable the TFV to replenish reparations reserve which has been depleted to complement three reparations awards in three cases as well as to continue TFV’s assistance programme under the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court.

Attorney General of Ireland, H.E Mr Seamus Woulfe, SC said, “Ireland believes that delivering on reparative justice and assistance to victims is critical in the context of the implementation of the Rome Statute. We view our annual financial contributions to the Trust Fund for Victims as an integral element of our membership of the Court. “

Welcoming another contribution from one of long-term supporter of the TFV, Board member Mr Felipe Micelini said: “This donation from Ireland will permit the TFV to strengthen our assistance programme and enable the Trust Fund to complement reparations awards. The Trust Fund’s work could not be realized without the financial commitment of key supporters. We welcome the continued generosity of the government of Ireland”.
