“Before the 2003 violence, I supported my family through seasonal work. The violence took that away, and life became very hard. In 2021, I joined a TFV-supported programme where I accessed psychosocial support and the tools to start my own business. With these, I rebuilt my livelihood and found stability again.
“These monuments symbolise the long journey of Duékoué’s communities since 2011. They lift the weight of the horrors we endured and witnessed. Today, what we lived through is no longer hidden — it is known and acknowledged throughout Côte d’Ivoire. We are no longer alone in carrying the memory of the 2011 events.
